The Chipola College Criminal Justice Assessment Center’s overall goal is to attract, screen and select candidates for the Law Enforcement, Correctional Officer, and Firefighting Academy.

Students requesting acceptance into the law enforcement or corrections basic training program must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Pass the associated Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT). To sign up for the CJBAT test, enter FDLE in the name section at this link https://home.pearsonvue.com/test-taker.aspx For assistance, call (850)718-2394.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, and be 19 or older by the time they take the state examination after completing the program
  • Be a United States Citizen
  • No felony (or certain misdemeanor) convictions and have good moral character
  • No dishonorable discharge from military service
  • Pass a drug screen
  • Pass a physical examination
  • Pass a thorough background investigation

Additionally, the following information must be provided/completed by the student:

  • Personal information sheet
  • A Florida sheriff’s application
  • A Chipola College Application
  • A copy of birth certificate
  • A copy of high school diploma with transcript or GED with scores
  • A copy of military discharge if you are a veteran
  • A copy of driver’s license
  • A copy of Social Security card
